There were 1,163 traffic accidents reported during the wet weather in Dubai this weekend
Dubai - ArabToday

More than 1,100 road accidents were recorded in Dubai over the weekend, with many driving erratically in poor weather conditions.
Dubai Police’s control room received 15,308 emergency calls and recorded 1,163 traffic accidents.
Lt Col Turki Abdullah bin Faris, director of the Command and Control Centre at Dubai Police, urged motorists to take extra care and follow basic safety measures in adverse weather.
"Drivers should also make sure their cars’ windshields, windows and headlights are clean and maintain a safe distance [from the car in front]," he said.
Brig Omar Al Shamsi, deputy director of the Operations Department said they had cars sliding on wet roads and motorists losing control of vehicles.
There were a few major accidents, he said, but most were minor. "Dubai Police continuously raise awareness about traffic education and safety," he said. "But a number of motorists continue to drive recklessly and ignore the rules, especially taxi drivers and bus drivers."
