Madinah - Arabstoday
Offering training to workers who serve pilgrims and keeping pilgrims informed about the latest developments using advanced information technology are some of the major features of the operation plans of the Madinah Haj Committee, a statement issued by the secretariat of the committee said. The operation plans aim at providing the best possible service to the Haj pilgrims who visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah. The plans also include the display of the latest timings of flights on large screens at prominent locations and of departure schedules of pilgrims at Prince Muhammad International Airport after the Haj. The screens will also display the grouping of pilgrims, departure time from their residential units, GPS for the pilgrim accommodations, and daily statements about Haj statistics and other developments interesting to pilgrims. All the programs appearing on the screens will be updated frequently. The screens will also show information about false sale of sacrificial coupons. The operation plans for this year are being implemented under the supervision of Interior Minister Prince Ahmed, who is the chairman of the Supreme Haj Committee. “Madinah Gov. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed, chairman of the Madinah Haj Committee, is very particular to offer excellent services to the pilgrims with the help of advanced management systems and technology,” the Saudi Press Agency reported quoting from the statement on Saturday. Prince Abdul Aziz is also keen on the participation of devoted Saudis who can offer their maximum to serve pilgrims. The operation plans are being implemented since the day the first group of pilgrims arrived in the city. The plans encourage all Haj service agencies to offer their services in an integrated and coordinated manner and at a high standard. As part of the plans, the Madinah Islamic University and the Taiba University are offering training to the security and service workers of the Prophet’s Mosque. So far, 4,130 workers including administrative officials, officers of the security forces and officials at various reception centers have completed the training programs. Bus drivers working for the Car Syndicate, which undertakes the domestic transport of all Haj pilgrims, are also given special training at the university. The training programs included workshops, lectures, and forums on better treatment of pilgrims. Some academic establishments have provided training to 130 others on quality standards before the beginning of the Haj season. The committee also aims to organize an exhibition on the achievements and different phases of the Kingdom’s service to pilgrims. The operation plans to encompass the establishment of more field control rooms and patrols in collaboration with related agencies. The committee has been striving to benefit from various field studies conducted by research agencies to improve the service to pilgrims. The committee also aims to improve its media activities related to the pilgrimage besides employing the latest communication technology to exchange information with other departments working for the service of pilgrims.
