His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah appealed for aid for the Syrian people on Monday, and called for launching a national campaign to ease their suffering in and outside Syria. His Highness the Amir called upon people living in Kuwait - citizens and expatriates - as well as NGOs and private sector to contribute to the national campaign to help the Syrian people inside their country or in neighboring nations in order to alleviate their suffering. His Highness the Amir regretted the international community's failure to help the Syrian people. His Highness Sheikh Sabah said he was looking forward to positive reaction for his call through donations to official charitable societies. The Kuwaiti people have always been keen to help people in need around the world, said His Highness Sheikh Sabah. His Highness the Amir praised Allah to help the Syrian people overcome their ordeal, as well as restoration of security and stability in their country. Kuwait is set to host the 2nd donors conference for the Syrian people. The UN seeks to raise up to USD 6.4 billion for the Syrian people in 2014.
