The Egyptian state is taking all possible measures to improve human rights conditions in the country through the application of international standards and the organization of surprise and regular inspections of prisons by the public prosecution, Justice Minister Hossam Abdel Rehim said.
During a meeting with visiting Deputy Speaker of the German Parliament Claudia Roth and German Ambassador in Cairo Julius Georg Luy, the justice minister welcomed the idea of hosting international committees to stand on the Egyptian performance regarding the protection of human rights and violence against women.
A new medical center at the Forensic Medicine Authority will open soon, equipped with state-of-the-art devices, to detect physical and psychological assaults against women, Abdel Rehim said.
The Egyptian judiciary is completely independent from the executive authority and has nothing to do with politics, he stressed.
The Justice Ministry, as an executive authority, is not entitled to oversee the judiciary and has no power over the rulings issued by courts, he added.
He welcomed the signing of judicial cooperation agreements with Germany and the activation of existing ones.
