The Ministry of Interior announced Wednesday that eight leaders of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood group were arrested while they were in a meeting in Cairo's district of Nasr City to prepare for a plot to incite the public opinion.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the Interior Ministry explained that Public Security Sector received information on plans by the banned group to incite public opinion taking advantage of the economic crisis in the country.
The plan included coordinating with extremist elements to spark off crises in a number of workers' sectors.
Investigations also asserted that MB elements organized several meetings in their locations in Nasr City and Moqattam on January 17 as part of their plans to incite the public opinion and carry out violence and sabotage acts.
Working upon a tip-off, security forces arrested seven leading figures, including wanted elements in criminal cases.
Security forces also seized several papers for the organization that include schemes to spread tension along with a sum of money estimated at 315,300 pounds.
After inspecting other premises for MB meetings, police seized papers, flash memories, a lab top and amounts of money in an apartment in Nasr City.
All legal measures have been taken against the detainees and prosecution was notified to launch a probe.
