Abu dhabi - Arab Today

The Government is putting in place new standards for providing police services, in a bid to carry out the Government’s vision to make the UAE one of the safest countries in the world.

The Ministry of Interior has introduced the first international administrative specification for the UAE in the field of benchmarking, under the name "PAS: 7070", and in cooperation with the British Standards Institution (BSI).

Major General Dr. Nasser Lakhrebani Al Nuaimi, Secretary General of the Office of HH Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, praised the support of the UAE’s leadership, as they seek to achieve excellence in the field of benchmarking. He spoke of his appreciation for the directives of H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and his continuous support for the teams of police who are working to raise the standards of the police, and those operating in the security fields.

He stressed the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing work to implement the government’s vision to make the UAE among the safest countries in the world, by putting in place administrative systems to provide high level police services for citizens, residents and visitors.

Furthermore, Lt. Colonel Mubarak Al Kaleeli, Director of the Benchmarking Center in the Department of Strategies and Performance Improvement in the Ministry of Interior, noted that the preparation of the specifications has been done through the Specialised Technical Committee, which includes a number of prestigious international organizations, including the British Royal Inspectorate and the American Center for Quality and Productivity, the British Telecommunications Authority, the US Intel company, and others.

He added that the international standard for benchmarking is a translation of an actual summary of international experience in this field and a true confirmation of the excellence of the Ministry of Interior in the field of benchmarking. He also stated that they are currently working on a number of training courses, in cooperation with the British benchmarking agency.
