The Geel (Generation) Party, headed by Nagi Al-Shihabi, hailed the verdict passed Tuesday to ban the activities of the Palestinian Hamas movement in Egypt. In a statement released Wednesday, the party said that the ruling revealed the fact that Hamas is formed by Israel for the purpose of dividing Palestinians and undermining the Palestine Liberation Organization, which is the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, adding that Hamas is now acting as a policeman working for Israel. The party's statement also called on the Egyptian government to implement the verdict strictly, close Hamas headquarters in Cairo and stop dealing with it immediately.
