The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states stressed Monday that they support all what would lead Lebanon to prosperity and stability, a statement by the media office of Prime Minster Designate Saad Hariri said.

Kuwait ambassador to Lebanon Abdul-Aal Al-Kinai said after meeting with Hariri "we were honored to meet with Prime Minister Saad Hariri. We congratulated him and wished him luck in the formation of the government."

He added "We stressed that our states stand by Lebanon in everything that would lead to its prosperity, progress, security and stability."

The statement pointed that ambassadors Abdul-Aal Al-Kinai of Kuwait, Mohammed Saeed Al Shamsi of the UAE, Ali bin Hamad Al Marri of Qatar, Walid al-Bukhari the Saudi charge d'affaires and Khalid bin Ali Hardan the charge d'affaires of the Sultanate of Oman congratulate him and wish him luck in the formation of the government.

Al Kinai added "through you, we also congratulate and support President Michel Aoun and designate Prime Minister Saad Hariri, hoping that he will be able to form the government as soon as possible, and fulfill the aspirations of all honest Lebanese citizens to security, stability and economic prosperity."

Hariri said that "the election of general Michel Aoun as president of the republic, and the government that is being formed, represent an opportunity to re-emphasize Lebanon's Arab identity and restore the warmth to Lebanon's relations with its brotherly countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council."

He noted that "the GCC countries constitute the vital economic space for Lebanon, because they provide job opportunities for the Lebanese, markets for their exports, sources of direct investments in Lebanon and are essential for tourism in Lebanon. "

Last week, Aoun was elected as the new president of Lebanon.

On Thursday, Aoun asked Hariri to form the government after he received the nomination of 112 members of the parliament.
