The Foreign Ministry changed its logo on its official Facebook page to another bearing the map of Africa and the logo of a media campaign it launched today to mark Africa Day.
Africa Day is the annual commemoration on May 25, 1963 founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU). On this day, leaders of 30 of the 32 independent African states signed a founding charter in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In 1991, the OAU established the African Economic Community, and in 2002 the OAU established its own successor, the African Union.
The media campaign aims to shed light on the historic day in the life of African nations and show Egypt’s role in supporting national liberation movements and development efforts in Africa.
