
Arab League Secretary-General Dr Nabil Elaraby on Monday condemned the attack outside a Coptic Christian church of Virgin Mary which occurred in Waraq neighbourhood of Cairo on Sunday. He expressed his sincere condolences to the families of the innocent victims. In a statement today, Elaraby called for investigating the circumstances of the incident which he described as treacherous and urged to hold accountable the perpetrators of the attack. Such criminal acts will not succeed in dividing the Egyptian people and their unity, but will rather strengthen their coherence and unity, he added. Two gunmen, riding on a motorcycle, opened gunfire at a number of leaving the Virgin Mary church, in Al Waraq neighbourhood killing three people and injuring at least six others.
