Egypt's army uses pumps to drain water from flood stricken streets
Cairo - Arab Today

Acting upon the directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Armed Forces are continuing efforts to clear roads in the Red Sea and Sohag governorates, the two worst hit areas of deadly floods that hit the country over the past few days.

At least 26 people were killed and 40 others injured nationwide.

Technical members of the Armed Forces deployed in and out of the Red Sea town of Ras Gharib are working round the clock to pump water off roads, schools and government facilities.

The city's schools turned into shelters for those left homeless after the Education Ministry decided to suspend the educational process in the city till making sure that buildings are safe for children.

For two days, the city was hit with unprecedented rainfall that reached 120 million cubic metres.

In Upper Egypt, members of the southern military area continue helping victims of the floods as they distribute 50,000 cartons of foodstuffs.
