Egyptian-South African Talks

Egyptian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Faiza Abul Naga discussed today with South Africa''s new Ambassador to Egypt Mundy Nolathane Sariya ways to promote and activate relations of cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas agreed upon during the visit of South African President Jacob Zuma to Cairo in October 2010. The two sides discussed the outcome of the talks Egyptian Prime Minister Dr. Essam Sharaf held during his recent visit to Johannesburg on the sidelines of the summit meeting of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).    They agreed that concerted efforts should be made by both countries at the bilateral and regional levels to achieve further cooperation and integration between Egypt and South Africa.   The two parties also agreed on the importance of promoting the role of the two countries to develop relations with African countries in all fields to gradually establish the concept of partnership.   Egypt and South Africa meanwhile emphasized the importance of activating the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries and to revitalize the role of the private sector by intensifying promotional visits and discussions on the possibility of establishing joint investment ventures in various fields.
