Egypt's PM to meet Islamists' representatives

Egyptian Prime Minister Hazem al-Biblawi announced on Sunday he would be meeting with representatives of differentIslamist parties and political forces who did not attend his meeting Saturday with political parties. "The meeting that was held yesterday with representatives of political parties and forces was very fruitful," Biblawi said in a press release. "We discussed the latest developments domestically and exchanged views on a wayout of the current political situation while reiterating commitment to the roadmap of June 30." He was referring to mass demonstrations on June 30 against then President Mohamed Morsi. On July 3, the powerful army announced a roadmap which included ousting Morsi, the country's first democratically elected president, suspending the constitution and installing Adly Mansour, the head of the constitutional court, as interim president. Ever since, Morsi supporters have been staging daily mass demonstrations and sit-ins to defend his democratic legitimacy and demand his reinstatement. Yesterday's meeting was attended by liberal and secular parties supportive of the army-imposed roadmap. Eight political parties, mostly Islamists, said they were not invited to Biblawi's meeting yesterday.
