Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs launched an integrated national program to brief Africans about Egypt's key role in supporting African issues.
The program is accompanied by a media campaign titled "Africa: the continent of struggle and hope" that will be promoted through the ministry's social networks accounts.
The program is launched to mark Africa Day, which falls on May 25, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
It is meant to shed light on Egypt's role in supporting African issues of concern, he added.
The celebration this year is important given Egypt's presidency of the UN Security Council as representative of the African continent, Abu Zeid stated.
Egypt is also representing North African states at the AU Peace and Security Council from 2016 to 2018.
Africa Day is the annual commemoration of the 1963 founding of the Organization of African Unity (OAU), presently recognized as the African Union (AU).
The African Union, comprised of 53 member states, has brought together the continent of Africa to collectively address the challenges it has faced, such as armed conflicts, climate change, and poverty.
