Dubai has set a new world record for the largest fireworks display as the world celebrates the new year of 2014. More than 440,000 fireworks have been launched from Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made structure in the world, breaking the previous Guinness record set by Kuwait last year. The performance lasted for six minutes with a countdown for the new year both in English and Arabic, along with a choreographed musical soundtrack. More than 200 expert technicians have put in 5,000 hours of work to ensure that the fireworks' timing is accurate down to the millisecond. One hundred computers were used in the performance, with the highest fireworks reaching more than one kilometers in height. By this wonderful event, Dubai has smashed the current record held by the Gulf neighbor Kuwait.
