Defence minister: army protects nation against threats

The Armed Forces will always be the shield that protects the nation against all threats and challenges, Defense Minister Sedqi Sobhi said Monday.

Speaking in a meeting with a number of students of military academies via video conference, Sobhi said that people's unity behind their Armed Forces will guarantee that terrorism and extremism are uprooted.

Students of the military academies and civilian colleges are the main pillar of the future, the minister said. 

The Armed Forces are keen on upgrading the education system at military academies, which are places of advanced military thinking, Sobhi added.

Students of the military academies are accurately selected based on their ability to shoulder responsibilities, the minister made it clear. 

He also listened to the students' views and replied to their inquiries.

Sobhi urged them to work on their skills and benefit from the expertise of their leaders.
