Bashir warns against external influence on Sudan

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir said on Wednesday that his country would not be ruled by an agent or a collaborator with the enemies. Addressing a public rally in Nahral-Neel State, some 140 km north of the capital Khartoum, Bashir said "the Sudanese people is the one who maintain the right to select who to rule them." Bashir lashed out at the opposition parties who have recently signed a so-called "New Dawn Document" in the Ugandan capital Kampala. "Sudan will not be ruled by those who are staying in hotels in Uganda. The people will not be ruled by an agent or a traitor. It will not be ruled by Yassir Arman or Malik Aqar," Bashir said. He also slammed Uganda that hosted a meeting for the Sudanese opposition to sign the new dawn document. "We are not afraid of Uganda or the signatories of the new dawn document or those who support them," Bashir added. On Dec. 30 last year, some Sudanese opposition parties and armed movements signed a document, dubbed the "New Dawn" in Kampala. Under the document, they agreed to work to topple the government through both peaceful and military means. However, a number of the opposition parties expressed their reservation about the document, stressing that they recommended its signatories to convince the armed groups to adopt the peaceful path to change the Sudanese administration.
