Board of Trustees Chairman of Bahrain Centre for Strategic, International and Energy Studies (DERASAT) Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa paid a visit to Germany within the framework of boosting academic relations and developing capabilities with international specialised institutions and colleges. He met with Deputy Secretary General of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Dr. Gerhard Wahlers and listened to a briefing on the role and missions of the foundation in Germany and its activities in many countries in the world.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah underscored the importance of promoting intellectual and humanitarian communication between the East and West so as to boost tolerance, dialogue and co-existence. He pointed out Bahrain’s tangible development of the civil society institutions since the launch of the comprehensive reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He emphasised the climate of openness and freedom in Bahrain and its role in fostering sustainable development, the democratic process and human rights in the kingdom.
On his part, Dr. Gerhard Wahlers praised Bahrain’s development and modernisation, voicing keenness on cooperation with DERASAT to attain the common development goals in the two friendly countries.
Dr. Shaikh Abdullah also held other meetings with other German officials within the framework of cooperation with international think-tanks and discussed with them issues of common interest, highlighting Bahrain’s achievements brought about under the reform project of HM the King. He underlined Bahrain’s keenness on backing all efforts aimed at maintaining regional security and stability, countering all forms of terrorism and serving global peace and growth.
