King Hamad bin Isa & President Abdel Fattah El Sisi
Manama - Arab Today

Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa's official visit to Egypt will give a strong thrust to deeply-rooted ties between the two countries, said Bahraini Information Minister Ali bin Mohammed al Rumaihi.

In statements to MENA on Monday, Rumaihi, who is also the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD), said that this is the sixth visit by the Bahraini king to Egypt since President Abdel Fattah El Sisi took the helm in 2014.

The visit, which comes ahead of the 28th Arab Summit, due to start in Jordan on Wednesday, reflects Bahrain's appreciation of Egypt's adamant stances in support of the Arab Gulf countries' security in the face of foreign interference, terrorism and acts of violence, Rumaihi said.

He further stressed the importance of the Egyptian-Bahraini Summit as it comes at a critical time as the Arab nation is facing major security and economic challenges and foreign threats.

President Sisi is scheduled to meet King Hamad later in the day at the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis.

The two leaders will have a session of talks on boosting bilateral cooperation in the various fields, as well as the latest developments in the Arab region.
