Kuwait's 25th Arab Summit, due next week, holds great significance because it is held amidst critical circumstances taking place in the Arab World, especially at political and security fronts, Lebanese political experts said Friday. The two experts stressed on Kuwait's vital role in bridging the gaps between conflicting parties and creating a common understanding for international relations. Dr. Imad Salamey, an associate professor of Political Science and International Relations at Lebanese American University (LAU), told KUNA that the March 25-26 Arab Summit will be held amidst unprecedented challenges facing the Middle East region, like the Syrian bloody conflict and developments in Egypt. "These exceptional circumstances require a strong and responsible Arab stance to unify efforts," he noted. Therefore, the upcoming Summit in Kuwait should result in a unison of voice, especially since Kuwait has good relations and influence in the Arab World. Meanwhile, Associate Director at Issam Fares Center For Lebanon Michel Abou Najem reiterated in a statement to KUNA that Kuwait's Summit will tackle crucial issues alongside the Syrian and Palestinian crises. "Arab solidarity is needed to alleviate tension in the region," he said.
