
The Arab League warned on Thursday of the gravity of challenges facing Arab women that undermine their rights and threaten their future, foremost among which is terrorism.
Addressing the third meeting of the Arab Network for Economic Empowerment of Women (Khadija), director of the AL department of women and family Inas Mekawi said the Arab region is facing at the time being unprecedented challenges that negatively affect Arab women, saying women now in some countries not only lose their families but their homes and history.
She said the meeting aims at enhancing women's political participation and economic empowerment and providing a chance for partnership among the various sectors operating in the field of the economic empowerment of women.
The Women, Family and Childhood Department of the Arab League launched the Arab Network for Economic Empowerment of Women “Khadija” in collaboration with the European Union and UN Women Regional Office for Arab States within the framework of the joint program between the European Union and UN Women, “Spring Forward for Women”. It aims for enhancing women political participation and economic empowerment and is funded by the European Union.
