The Arab League has warned against the dire consequences of armed disputes, terrorism and its negative impact on children in the Arab region.
Today, a number of Arab countries are embroiled in armed disputes, the pan-Arab body said on Monday.
In these countries, many children are deprived of education and jeopardized, it added.
In an address to a meeting of regional experts titled "Our Children are our future...identity and belonging" at the AL premises, Director of AL Department for Women, Family and Childhood Inas Mekawi said it is important to overcome challenges facing child refugees.
The AL is keen on promoting programs and action plans which aim at protecting children's rights and serving their interests, added Mekawi.
Today's meeting, the first of its kind, aims at probing means to protect all children's rights to legal identity, unity of family and sense of belonging in the Arab region, she noted.
Member countries are set to adopt a declaration for their joint commitment to boosting rights of women, children and families in the region, according to Mekawi.
