MP Amin Weheb stressed in an interview with the Al-Fajr radio station that President Michel Aoun's most recent stance vis-à-vis Hezbollah's weapons is rejected.
"We are keen on the relation we have with President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, and on the launching of the new era under joint work. However, we disagree with the President over his most recent position whereby he considered Hezbollah's weapons as compatible with the State and as an integral part of Lebanon's defense system," the MP said.
"This stance undermines the Lebanese State's sovereignty and the president's neutrality, and thus underestimates the Lebanese Army's rights, sacrifices, fierceness and efficiency in protecting Lebanon both inside and along the border," he added.
Tackling the ongoing commotion over drafting a new election law, Wehbe said "we [the Future movement] are still looking into a joint law that satisfies all the Lebanese factions."
"Full proportionality, as suggested by Hezbollah, requires the non-existence of weapons in the hands of the Lebanese," he argued.
