The Prisoners' Sector at the Interior Ministry decided on Wednesday to pardon 70 inmates and release 84 prisoners on parole from jails nationwide.
The prison service sector said it had formed committees to check on prisons across the nation to choose those eligible for release according to specific criteria.
The release comes as a part of the implementation of presidential decree covering the amnesty for further penalties for some convicts.
Also, it comes in light of Interior Ministry's keenness on promoting the value of human rights and applying punitive measures in a new approach.
