Four Jordanian policemen and a Canadian tourist were killed in the ongoing security operations in the southern city of Karak, the Jordanian Public Security Directorate reported Sunday.
Several citizens were also wounded, it added.
A clash erupted between police and militants who had been holed up in the city's castle, the statement said.
Security forces were laying siege to the castle, it added.
