Around 2,808 people lost their lives due to road accidents in Egypt during the first half of 2015, according to a report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
As many as 6,916 road accidents have been reported during that period, leaving 8,946 people wounded, the report said.
The biggest number of accidents occurred in May with reported 1,261 ones then comes June with 1,215 cases.
Most of the accidents were reported on highways with Cairo/Alexandria agricultural road topping the list with 150 accidents while Cairo/Fayyoum road comes least with only ten.
As for train accidents, around 640 accidents were reported during the first half of 2015 with the biggest number of accidents being reported in the Lower Egypt (277) then comes Upper Egypt (205).
