Two Taliban militants were killed and five others wounded in two separate blasts in Afghanistan's eastern provinces, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
Two anti-government militants died after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted at the roadside exploded prematurely in Andar District, eastern Ghani province on Wednesday night, the ministry said in a statement.
In a similar incident, five local Taliban commanders were wounded after an IED detonated accidentally in Dohab District, eastern Nuristan province on the same day, said the statement.
The Taliban militants have used home-made IEDs to target security forces, but the lethal weapons also inflict casualties on civilians, according to military officials.
Two Afghan soldiers were killed, two soldiers and more than 30 civilians were wounded in separate IED explosions across the country within the last week.
