One person was killed and five others injured on Friday when fierce clashes erupted in Lebanon's northern port city of Tripoli between two rival neighborhoods of Sunni Bab el-Tebbaneh and Alawite Jaba, Mohsen, a security source said. The clashes erupted following the death of a Jabal Mohsen resident by gunfire from Bab el-Tebbaneh, the source said, adding that activity was recorded between Jabal Mohsen and Bab al- Tabbaneh and hand grenades were also tossed on several fighting frontiers. Friday's clashes erupted after Taleb Assi, who hails from Jabal Mohsen, died of his wounds after being hit with gunshots in the northern region of al-Qobbeh. The source said that army troops deployed in the area responded to the sources of fire.
