Huub Stevens: We were fresher than Hannover 96 overall

Huub Stevens and Mirko Slomka reflect on Bundesliga matchday 29 Huub Stevens: I think we started well. We were forced to bring in a number of players to  the starting line-up. That possibly meant we were fresher than Hannover 96 overall. I've got to praise the lads for the first, second and third goals. Im not just talking about the goalscorers but the whole team as well. And all the players who didn't play or weren't even in the squad are incredibly important for us for the effort they put in during the week. The situation in the league is still exciting but we've definitely qualified for Europe. Now we want to do everything we can to end the season on a high. Mirko Slomka: We didn't stand a chance for large parts of the game. We looked like we were getting into the game 15 minutes before the break. But that was quickly snuffed out with the second goal at the start of the second half. Of course, we hoped to get something out of the game. But we soon had the stuffing knocked out of us. Schalke deserved to win. It's important for us to draw the right conclusions now because we're up against a close rival in VfL Wolfsburg next.
