Steph Houghton has paid tribute to the 5,000 Arsenal supporters who watched Arsenal Ladies’ 3-1 victory over Chelsea at Emirates Stadium on Thursday night. Laura Harvey’s side overtook their west London rivals at the top of the table in front of a record Women’s Super League crowd. Houghton featured for Leeds Carnegie alongside fellow Arsenal team-mate Ellen White on the Ladies’ last fixture at the stadium - but the midfielder admits this fulfilled an even bigger dream. “The support was tremendous,” Houghton told Arsenal Player. “I think all the girls are really grateful that they came out. We love the support and we are glad that we put on a performance to make sure we got the win for them. “Obviously it was great to come to the Emirates a few years ago for Leeds but to do it for Arsenal is something that you dream about. We wish we could play here every week so when we do it is great for every one of us. “We just want to say thanks to all the supporters who came out.”
