Los Angeles - Arabstoday
David Beckham says the reigning champions Los Angeles Galaxy will not change their approach to Wednesday's Major League Soccer play-off match at San Jose just because a loss will end their season. The 37-year-old English midfielder plays his first match at the Earthquakes' 2012 home pitch, Santa Clara University's Buck Shaw Stadium, hoping the Galaxy can advance in the two-leg series after losing the opener 1-0 at home Sunday. "Our mindset doesn't change going into the game, whether it was nil-nil or obviously, the result that we got," Beckham said. "We still feel that we would always have to go to San Jose to win the game." Beckham played 78 minutes in the Galaxy defeat, but his trademark dangerous crosses found nobody at the end of them thanks to the sturdy rearguard of San Jose, who won on Victor Bernardez's free-kick in stoppage time. "They kind of sat back and in the end they were going for the draw and accepting that," Beckham said. "But you get a free kick like that then there's a chance that you're going to score. Unfortunately they did. "Overall our defending was great throughout the whole game. It's just tough to concede that late in the game," Beckham added. "They have come here and beat us. There's no reason why we can't go there and beat them. It's going to be tough. We can take the positives from the chances that we created and the possession that we had." FIFA
