Yemen police free 4 Indian hostages

Four Indian hostages were freed Monday by the authorities in Yemen following a week in captivity, officials said. The three men and one woman were abducted while trekking through al-Haima al-Kharijya district near the capital, Sanaa, the Yemen Post reported. Authorities said in an official statement that all four hostages were in good health and secure. It added that the authorities were hunting down the criminals, determined to bring them to justice and to crack down on lawlessness in the country's provinces. The Post reported tribes in Yemen often use kidnapping to pressure the government into complying with their demands, financial or others.
