Tunisian Dignity Caravan to head for Gaza

The Tunisian Dignity Caravan, organised by a group of Tunisian youths, will leave on Saturday at 5 p.m. (local time), Tunis-Carthage airport for Gaza. Mrs. Leila Ayari, who is leading the caravan told Tunis-Afrique Presse (TAP) news agency that this initiative, which aims to break seclusion of the Gaza inhabitants, is a symbolic gesture to help the Gaza people. It is a spontaneous action by a group of Tunisian youths, she also said. Mrs. Ayari added that idea belongs to student Sabrine Aribi who got in touch with a Tunisian human rights activist. The latter managed to ensure co-ordination between the participants in this caravan and to collect donations. The caravan has notably freighted 400 kilos of medicaments, given that the Gaza Strip is in real shortage of medicaments, as well as a variety of consumer goods which are not available on the local markets. She voiced wish to see this caravan accomplish its mission in optimum conditions. Activists who joined the caravan are three students, a secondary education teacher, a graduate in information technology and two lawyers. The caravan will make a stop in Egypt's Cairo airport before heading, on September 12, for the Rafah border crossing.
