Amman - Xinhua

Thousands of Jordanians took to the streets Friday in downtown Amman, calling for sacking the government of Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit. The demonstrators, including representatives from different political parties, demanded the dissolution of the Lower House, which they said supports "corruption and the corrupted." Last week, the Lower House endorsed the Anti-Corruption law, which activists said includes articles that limit the press freedom and oppose the reform process. The demonstrators said the government and the Lower House failed to meet their promises to embark on genuine reforms at different levels. Several demonstrations were held Friday across Jordan in the northern, central and southern parts of the country that called for similar demands.
