Senators leading the investigation into Russian interference in the November election
Washington - Arab Today

Senators leading the investigation into Russian interference in the November election pledged on Wednesday to conduct a prompt inquiry, including an examination of any ties to US President Donald Trump, as they sought to distance themselves from the flagging efforts in the House, (The New York Times) reported.
The chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Richard Burr, Republican of North Carolina said the Commission's investigators have already set the dates for interviews with 20 people, with the possibility of interviewing more people involved in the matter in the coming weeks. It is expected that some of these individuals will eventually testify publicly, Burr added.
The Commission held only one public hearing last January about the investigations, however activities that Russia may have planned to influence the 2016 elections in the United States, as well as any contacts between presidential campaigns and the Russian government, are scheduled to be scrutinized during the upcoming investigations.
US intelligence agencies said last year that they believed the top leaders of the Russian government had authorized piracy activities targeting the US Democratic Party, which had leaked disconcerting information about the previous Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
