US President Barack Obama
Chicago - Arab Today

US President Barack Obama warned against divisiveness between Americans of different backgrounds such as Muslims, and expressed his rejection of discrimination against Muslim Americans.

In his presidential farewell speech in Chicago, Obama called on citizens to become politically engaged and to uphold the values the country was founded on, as his eight years as president comes to an end. "If anyone can put together a plan that is demonstrably better than the improvements we’ve made to our health care system – that covers as many people at less cost – I will publicly support it," the president said regarding Obamacare.

On the presidential transition, the president said: "I committed to president-elect Trump that my team would ensure the smoothest possible transition, just as president Bush did to me. Because it’s up to all of us to make sure our government can meet the many challenges we still face".

President Obama gave his farewell speech in Chicago his hometown preceding the Inauguration Day in which president elect Donald Trump will be given the presidency.
