
The National Institution of Human Rights (NIHR) Deputy Chairman Abdulla Ahmed Al-Derazi received the delegation of the European Union for the Middle East and Gulf led by Roberto Storci, currently on visit to Bahrain
Al-Derazi welcomed the delegation and commended the relations of friendship and the European Union, briefing them about the national watchdog's achievements in dealing with human rights issues with total transparency and independence. He said that the watchdog, which is part of the Human Rights Alliance, represents one of the fruits of the reform project which was initiated by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
Farid Ghazi highlighted ways of consolidating economic, social and cultural rights through proposals and recommendations. Maria Khouri highlighted the role of the Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee while Dr. Jamila Al-Sammak briefed the delegation about field visits.
