Nigerian police said they were sparing no effort to rescue the eight people abducted at the Nigerian Turkish International College (NTIC) in Ogun state over a week ago.

Kayode Aderanti, Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 2, on Tuesday also pleaded for "some time" to enable a successful rescue.

Aderanti assured that the police were determined to retrieve the victims from their abductors.

"We are working assiduously towards getting the children back, just give us some time," he said.

On Jan. 13, unknown gunmen invaded the NTIC campus and abducted two Junior Secondary School (JSS) students, one Senior Secondary School (SSS) student, three Nigerian workers and two Turkish staff.

They were abducted at about 9:30 p.m., when the kidnappers dug through the fence and entered through a back door.
