The execution of 47 terrorists followed long litigation proceedings that took years in the courts.
At the first stage of litigation, three judges preside over the Criminal Court. If the case is sent to Appeals Court, five judges look into the case. Following this, the case goes to the Higher Court, where it is studied by five judges. At this stage, the final verdict is issued.
In the Kingdom, the political system never interferes with the judiciary, which independently functions as per its mandate. It has never been recorded that the state tried to exert pressure to change a verdict or influence any of the judges heading Shariah courts, particularly in cases related to terrorism.
For Saudi Arabia, it is a matter of sovereignty and no country should interfere in the Kingdom’s internal affairs.
The sentences against the accused were issued only after the judges found strong physical evidence that led to their conviction and subsequent execution.
The action sends out a strong message that the Kingdom does not and will not tolerate any attempt by anyone to tamper with its security and stability. The move shows that the country will take all measures to ensure the safety of its citizens from deviants and terrorist ideologies.
As expected, some countries immediately politicized the execution of one of the terrorists for well-known reasons. Their irresponsible behavior is noted when they attack Saudi decisions.
