Kazakhstan Ambassador Yerzhan Mukesh hailed the bilateral relations with the Sultanate.

During the press conference at the Kazakhstani Embassy in Muscat on Sunday on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of initiating the diplomatic relations between the two countries, he noted that the Sultanate has been one of the leading Arab nations to start political and economic relations with Kazakhstan.

He added that the Kazakhstani capital Astana will host from June 10 and until September 10, 2017 the Expo 2017. Therefore, I invite all Omanis and residents of the Sultanate to visit the Expo in Astana that will offer wide opportunities.

He pointed out that Astana will host for the first time the Summit on Science and Technologies of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in September 2017. A number of leaders of Islamic countries will take part in the Summit.

As for the economic cooperation between the Sultanate and Kazakhstan, he affirmed that Oman Oil Company is involved in the development of two oilfields in Kazakhstan. The Sultanate is also interested in importing meat, cereals and flour from Kazakhstan.

He added that Kazakhstan's joining of the multimodal transport agreement with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran and the Sultanate of Oman (Ashgabat Agreement 2011) will enhance the reciprocal trade and transport activity between the Sultanate and other countries in the region.

He also pointed towards the cooperation among the Sultan Qaboos University and the National Eurasian University in Astana, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, (KazGU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Sultanate also takes part at the international conference on religions.
