
An Israeli army reconnaissance drone landed Wednesday into the Gaza Strip, which is ruled by Islamic Hamas movement, Palestinian security officials said.
The officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the drone landed into the coastal enclave, close to the fence of the borders between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, adding that Gaza militants seized the drone for checking it up.
Officials in the Hamas-run ministry of interior declined to comment.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army said in an official statement that one of the Israeli army reconnaissance drones landed into the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli Public Radio, adding that the incident is under investigation, without elaboration.
It has frequently happened that Israeli army drones that scan the Gaza Strip from the air land in the Gaza Strip.
In September 2015, Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades announced that they seized two Israeli army drones in two separate incidents.
