Riyadh - Arab Today

The exhibition on German energy transition “Energiewende” will be held Monday at Al-Hamra Mall, according to Deputy Chief of Mission and Embassy spokesman Michael Ohnmacht.
German Ambassador Dieter W. Haller will open the exhibition at 4 p.m. Arabian Centers Company is organizing the show with the embassy.
Ohnmacht said that in 2016, the “share of renewables in gross domestic power production reached 30 percent, while at the same time Germany is working on becoming increasingly energy efficient.”
He added that “the energy transition is our answer to the question of how Germany as an industrialized country can make its energy supply secure, affordable and sustainable.”
He said, “This unique opportunity for Germany as a location for business and investment will open up new opportunities, foster innovation, create jobs and boost growth. In fact, the journey has already started. The Energiewende is firmly embedded in an international framework.”
He added that “we welcome in-depth dialogue with our European neighbors and international partners and aim at cross-border cooperation and solutions.”
In a statement, the German Embassy said that “Germany is taking its responsibility for the planet and its inhabitants seriously.”
“As the pacemaker for renewable energy, Germany has gained unique experience, not only in the generation of renewable energy and related feed in and grid-stability issues, but also in the field of energy-efficient housing and state-of-the-art industries,” the embassy’s statement said.
