Egyptian citizens should be aware of any attempts to corrupt the relations either between the armed forces and people, or the Muslims and the Christians, the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) said in a joint meeting with the cabinet Thursday. In a statement, Information Minister Osama Haikal said the SCAF confirmed its confidence in the transitional government. He added that the SCAF and the government are working together during this transitional period to achieve security and stability and pave the road for a civilian government with a democratic base that respect all religions and human rights. He reiterated that the SCAF and the government expressed their regret for the victims of Maspero clashes which left at least 25 dead and hundreds injured Sunday. "The armed forces weren't and won't ever fight against the citizens no matter the circumstance is," he added. What happened in Maspero was a peaceful demonstration which was exploited by some parties to hit the stability of Egypt and create chaos, he added.
