Egypt’s recent election as deputy chair of the African Ministers' Council on Water (AMCOW) will give the country a role in following up and supporting water causes in the continent, Egyptian Water Resources Minister Mohamed Abdel Aati said.

During his participation in the opening session of Africa Day, organized by AMCOW, an African Union body, Aati valued the participation of a large number of ministers, technicians and representatives of donor sides in this event as an important step to present African water issues to the international community to attract more investments.

For his part, AMCOW Executive Secretary Mass Taal welcomed the eight African ministers attending the session, saying the Council will continue efforts to support dialogue between different continent countries and institutions to achieve sustainable development goals.
