
Cabinet Affairs Minister, Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, received today, in the presence of Shaikh Hussam bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Secretary-General of the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions (ICATU), Ghassan Ghosn, currently on a visit to the kingdom to take part in the ICATU Secretariat-General's Meeting, held here.
The minister expressed Bahrain's pride in hosting the high-profile meeting which will discuss the latest Arab trade union developments, and means to develop the Arab trade union movement to improve the Arab workers' conditions.
The Government of Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, is keen to support the noble efforts exerted by the International Confederation of Arab Trade Unions to fulfil the aspirations of Arab workers at all levels and in a way that consolidates the key role they are playing in enhancing development in Arab countries, the minister said.
Al-Mutawa wished the ICATU Secretariat-General's Meeting every success in coming up with positive results and outcomes that are commensurate with the expectations of Arab workers, and serve the security and stability in Arab countries in the midst of the current developments.
ICATU secretary-general expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the Government of Bahrain, led by HRH Premier, for the facilities it has put in place to ensure the success of the meeting, lauding the Prime Minister's support to the Arab trade union movement, and keenness to increase its participation in various sustainable development efforts.
He asserted that Bahrain boasts a long trade union work experience, lauding the progress boom witnessed by the kingdom in various sectors.
Chairman of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF), Gebaly Mohamed Gebaly, Deputy Chairman of the General Union of Libyan Workers, Khalifa Al-Matrouk, President of the Sudanese Workers' Trade Union Federation (SWTUF), Yusuf Abdulkarim, and President of the Bahrain Free Labour Unions Federation (Al-Hurr), Yaqoob Yusuf Mohammed, attended.
