Cairo - Qna

Arab League Assistant Secretary-General for the Affairs of Palestine and the Occupied Arab territories Mohamed Subaih has urged the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) not to succumb to external illegal pressure on the issue of Jerusalem, pointing out that international resolutions confirm that Jerusalem is part of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967. In remarks to reporters today, Subaih said UNESCO is concerned with the human heritage and must stand beside the people that suffer from occupation in their struggle to maintain their endangered heritage, adding that the Secretariat of the Arab League were in constant contact with the Arab Group at UNESCO as well as the missions in Palestine and the Arab League to follow up the crisis of the description of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel on the UNESCO website.
