Abbas and El-Arabi discuss Palestinian statehood efforts

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas received a telephone call on Thursday from Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Al-Arabi. They discussed the efforts of the committee formed to mobilize support for a UN recognition of an independent Palestinian State based on the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. The committee, which met in Doha on May 28th in the presence of Abbas, supported a Palestinian unilateral move to the United Nations and discussed taking the necessary legal steps to attain that goal.
