On Thursday, the US Department of Treasury declared imposing sanctions on the Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Mustafa Badr al-Din and Talal Hamiyah from the same party were also warned as they were accused of supporting the Bashar al-Assad’s government, and taking part in terrorist activities. The US Department of Treasury said in a statement which was quoted by UBI agency that: “Hezbollah and its leader tried to present their organisation as a social and political party, and a resistance movement. However, facts reveal that Hezbollah continuously uses terrorism against civilian targets in order to accomplish its objectives, and this tendency increased recently. During the last few months, the party played an active and growing role in supporting the Syrian government. It said that executive order number 13582 seizes all property, interests and benefits that are owned by the Syrian government and its supporters. This falls under the penalty of American jurisdictions. In addition to that, American citizens are prohibited from engaging in any commercial activity with Hezbollah." The statement added: “The Executive Order prohibits American citizens generally from engaging in any commercial activity with the Syrian government and its supporters. Furthermore, it freezes any assets of the Syrian government and its supporters. The Secretary General of Hezbollah was accused of supervising the efforts to help the Syrian government in a violent suppress campaign of the Syrian people by providing training, advice and logistical support of the Syrian government." The statement continued to say that the party directly trained Syrian people in the government inside Syria, and facilitated training of the Syrian troops by the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Group. The party also played a major role in expelling Syrian opposition forces from areas inside Syria, and its support for the Syrian government increased during the year.
