The United Nations General Assembly
Tripoli - Arab Today

Head of UN Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) Martin Kobler said that the political agreement concluded in Skhirat in December 2015 is the only framework to solve the Libyan crisis, calling for implementing the agreement’s clauses and taking the necessary steps to reach this goal.

Only Libyans can decide whether or not to amend the political agreement, Kobler said in a press conference held in Tripoli on Sunday, following talks with president of the Presidential Council of Libya’s National Unity Government, Fayez el-Sarraj and Libyan Foreign Minister Mohamed Siyala.

He urged the Libyans to make 2017 the year of decisions by placing the people’s interest above all other considerations. The UN official insisted that the responsibility of achieving this progress rests with Libyan decision makers, noting that the international community is ready to support this goal.
