United Nations Special Adviser on Yemen, Jamal Benomar has returned to Sanaa, Yemen on Sunday to oversee the political transition in the country. The UN envoy held a meeting with Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi to discuss the developments during the National Dialogue Conference and the attacks on power and oil lines experienced in the past two weeks. During the meeting Hadi highlighted the importance of Yemen moving towards the implementation of the Gulf initiative and an executive mechanism. The Yemeni president stated that the transition in Yemen has been peaceful and successful. He added that the comprehensive national dialogue has achieved significant progress at various levels. The visit is Benomar’s 21st to Yemen since the outbreak of revolt crisis against the former regime. It is expected that the UN envoy will hold further meetings with the political parties in order to bridge any gaps and address controversial issues between the groups.
